By now you've probably heard the sad news that Stompin Tom Connors passed away at age 77. I don't do many memorials or tributes here, but this is certainly one iconic Canadian performer who deserves a few words.
My first exposure to Stompin' Tom was in my Grade 7 music class. The teacher had us learn and sing "Bud The Spud" (still a favourite of mine to this day):
I have a good friend who actually stood up at his own wedding reception to perform a rendition of "Tillsonburg":
The board book version of Connors' "The Hockey Song" is one of my toddler's absolute favorites:
