For those who like: Al Tuck, Spirit Of The West
Newfoundland singer/songwriter Ian Foster has an exceptional new album The Evening Light. This roots record is drenched in Canadiana. With fiddle and banjo popping up, you can almost taste the salty air on "Calendar". Foster's far from a one-trick pony though, as the bluesy turn on "The First Day" attests.

For those who like: early Strokes
It doesn't take long for one to hear the influence of the early garage rock version of The Strokes on Sarnia, ON's Chocolate Robots. The trio of brothers have that lo-fi, loose fun feel that Casablancas and company abandoned so long ago.
Chocolate Robots' new album, Pizza Face, is available now.
