Now most will agree that Matador Records is about as big as a label can get while still retaining the label "Indie". Come on, these folks were the home to Pavement, Liz Phair, and now Sonic Youth. Sonic Youth for god-sakes!
Well they do a good job of working to maintain their indie cred. The latest is the announcement that on January 26th, the label will release Casual Victim Pile, a compilation of up-and-coming bands from every hipster's favorite city: Austin, TX.
The track list for Casual Victim Pile (an anagram for 'Live Music Capital') looks like this:
- Follow That Bird! – "The Ghosts That Wake You"
- The Young – "Blister"
- Woven Bones – "Spirits Roam"
- Flesh Lights – "Crush On You"
- Dikes Of Holland – "Little City Girl"
- Tre Orsi – "The Engineer"
- The Distant Seconds – "Akron Bureau"
- Kingdom Of Suicide Lovers – "Hoboken Snow"
