Quiet Company: "Everyone You Love Will Be Happy Soon"- album review

Everyone You Love Will Be Happy Soon is the sophomore release from Austin, TX quartet Quiet Company.

The album, to be released March 10th, is a collection of fun, piano-driven pop songs.  Just a quick scan of track names like "It's Better To Spend Money Like There's No Tomorrow Than Spend Tonight Like There's No Money" shows that the band firmly presses tongue in cheek when writing their tunes.

Showing a deft touch with the power pop hooks, coupled with a zest for enjoying life, the band will have you singing along to catchy choruses by the time you are through track three (the head bopper "Our Sun Is Always Rising").

At their very best, such as "Congratulations Seth & Kara", Quiet Company rival the pinnacle of Ben Folds' piano rock.

The record does give up its occasional introspective moments.  The subtle "Red & Gold" give us a rare serious moment.  It's a short respite before we are back and bah-bah-bahing our merry way along.

You aren't going to get a lot of sonic tricks with Quiet Company.  But when the songs are this well crafted, you don't need the gimmicks.

Best tracks: "Congratulations Seth & Kara", "A Nation of Two"
