Jennings: "Storybook" EP review

NYC singer (Mary) Jennings has recently released a new EP.  The Storybook EP is a collection of five piano and electronic backed pop songs.

As always, the real star is Jennings' voice.  Whether it's the Sarah McLachlan-style piano pop of "Doorway" or the New Age-infused "Your Way", the songs hit their stride when Jennings let's it out.

The highlight of the EP may very well be Jennings' cover of Rhianna's "Umbrella".  In it's original form it's a song that no self-respecting indie rock fan would come within 50 metres of.  However, in Jennings' hands the song becomes an effective song of yearning.

If you are an indie fan, but still like a good pop tune, I suggest you give this EP a shot.

Best tracks: "Doorway", "Umbrella"
