Iggy Pop announces album based on French novel

No one ever claimed that head Stooge Iggy Pop was normal, so this news should come as no real surprise.

Iggy is set to release an entire album of songs based on the novel La Possibilite d'une Ile by French novelist Michel Houellebecq.  The album, entitled Preliminaires is tentatively set for a May 19th release.

According to a quote on Pitchfork attributed to Iggy himself, the album is not straight rawk, but will feature "jazzy overtones".

Hopefully the album turns out a bit more consistent than Lou Reed's The Raven.
