The band play bright melodic pop nuggets with an underlying power pop snarl. These aspects collide, resulting in a Donnas-meet-Apples In Stereo melange. Each song is a battle of give-and-take between these two dynamics.
Sometimes it's the power pop that wins, like on the opener "Shout" or the supercharged schoolyard ditty "Weekend Tongue". Other times its the pop sensibility, like on the hushed Goldfrapp-esque "Shhh".
Lead singer Casey's vocals are eerily reminiscent of Kate Pierson, on occasion even letting out a big lunged chorus like the B-52s singer ("Photograph").
The band is at their best when they are rocking it. One listen to the party anthem "Saturday Night" (sorry not a Bay City Rollers cover) or the keyboard-propelled "Backbeat" will confirm this.
If you like your indie rock peppy and sunny, you need to check out Donora.
