The Supersuckers: Live At the Crocodile EP- Album Review

You have to love The Supersuckers.  They tour their asses off (as one of the best live bands in the world), they are good to their fans, and they like to drop surprises on us.

The latest is another in a line of live EPs.  This one is Live At the Crocodile, recorded at the Seattle venue in 2003.

The recording quality is a little lacking.  It sounds a bit tinny to my ears.  But what the hell it's great rock from a great band.

The set kicks off with Eddie bantering with the audience about how great "Not Aerosmith" would be for a band name.  Classic stuff.

Guitarist Rontrose Heathman (read my recent interview with him here) kicks into "Evil Powers of Rock N' Roll" and we're blazing.

The boys go old school for "Luck", which I have to admit is not one of my favorite numbers by the band.  They make up for it with a bottom heavy version of "Bruises To Prove It" and a blistering "I Want The Drugs".

The set is rounded out by a solid rendition of "Supersucker Drive-By Blues".  But wait, there's a bonus track (wasn't there an Eddie rant against those).  Wait a few seconds and you're treated to a frenzied "How To Maximize Your Kill Count".

What's next in this series of digital-only releases?  May I suggest an EP of only recordings of Eddie's Fake Encore bits.

The Supersuckers return to Toronto to play Lee's Palace on Mar. 13th as part of Canadian Music Week.

Best track: "Evil Powers of Rock N' Roll"
