Stephen Rockford Hammond: Flux Punch- Album Review

Nashville born and raised Stephen Rockford Hammond is an eclectic musician.  His new album, Flux Punch, proves that point.

Talented and well trained, Hammond fuses progressive rock, jazz, electric, and New Wave style to create his own unique sound.  Luckily, he proves to be highly proficient in each genre.

Flux Punch relies on rock (sometimes nearly metal) riffs to elevate Hammond's subversive vocal delivery.  Guitar licks that would sound extremely tired, even cliched, are fresh and vibrant in Hammond's hands.

While the musicianship on Flux Punch is unquestionable, it can get overwhelming to the listener.  From time to time it seems as though Hammond is more concerned about exploring the outer reaches of his abilities than providing something the audience can absorb.

That being said, if you are someone who enjoys hearing remarkably talented musicians ply their trade Flux Punch would fit your bill.
