Lists, lists, lists.  Today it's time to look at the best homegrown acts of the year.  

Best Canadian artists of 2008:

10. Born Ruffians

"Hummingbird" was one of the catchiest, quirkiest songs of the year.

9. Caribou

The breakout Polaris Prize winners.

8. Islands

Another solid album.

7. Jason Collett

He has really established himself as a heavyweight solo artist apart from Broken Social Scene.

6. Chad VanGaalen

The Calgarian has made waves on both sides of the border.

5. The Dears

They just keep charging along.

4. The Arkells

A hard rocking debut album gets them on the list.

3. Martha Wainwright

She's just charms the hell out of me.

2. Library Voices

A late comer to the list, but they have some of the best pop songs of the year, period.

1. Tokyo Police Club

They were everywhere.  Great singles, a solid album, countless shows.  Well earned. 

Land Of Talk has to be an early favorite for 2009.
