Xihilisk is a one man electronic band who has been putting out free albums for a decade now. EPTwo Special Edition is his latest release.
Created in his spare bedroom over the course of two years, the Englishman has put together an engaging indie electronica soundtrack. Completely instrumental, the album blips and bleeps its way through nine tracks.
Often all-instrumental albums can drag or worse, fade into nothing more than background noise. However, Xihilisk manages to keep the listener entertained as the album ebbs and flows.
The songs themselves range from aggressive and bombastic, not quite to the point of being industrial, to ambient and mellow, like a soundtrack to an elegant dinner party.
Xihilisk's Stereolab-meets-Holy Fuck sound definitely separates him from his electronica contemporaries.
