Most Disappointing Albums of 2008

I've noticed a bunch of magazines, websites, and bloggers have been jumping the gun on year-end list season.  So I thought I would jump in myself.

I've decided to start with what could be a controversial one: most disappointing albums.  I decided to go with "disappointing" rather than "worst" because really, there is so much crap out there that it would be nearly impossible to determine what was the crappiest of the crappy.

Most Disappointing Albums of 2008

10. Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks- Real Emotional Trash
This record was simply boring.  It shows Malkmus is a shade of his former Pavement self.  Review

9. Kaiser Chiefs- Off With There Heads
The sounds of a band adrift.  Review

8. The Pretenders- Break Up The Concrete
YAWN.

7. Kings Of Leon- Only By The Night
From overrated southern indie rockers to overrated U2 wannabes.  Review

6. Brett Anderson- Wilderness
Where, oh where, is Bernard Butler when you need him?  Review

5. Me First & The Gimme Gimmes- Have Another Ball
Sometimes even a truly entertaining band just goes through the motions.  Review

4. Amanda Palmer- Who Killed Amanda Palmer?
A lacklustre performance from a great performer.  Review

3. One Day As A Lion- One Day As A Lion
So we waited years and years for Zach de la Rocha to release something and this EP is what we get?  Stick with Tom Morello.  Review

2. Beck- Modern Guilt
Rarely does he give us an album as uninspired as this.  Review

1. Jenny Lewis- Acid Tongue
After giving us one of the very best album of 2006, Lewis drops this steaming little nugget on us.  Thanks.  Review

the only album from your list that i've heard is 'who killed amanda palmer'. i liked it, even though it's not as good as the dresden dolls. 'oasis' is a great song, and the video is hilarious.

I never cared for the dresden dolls so going into it was a big surprise. I really loved it.
