That may be about to change with Grampall Jookabox and the release of the new album Ropechain.
Grampall Jookabox is the moniker of one-man band David Adamson.
There are some eerie similarities between Grampall and a one-man band that blew onto the scene a few years ago: Beck. Both are influenced by both folk and hip hop music. The sound coming through is an intriguing mash-up, unique among their respective underground scenes.
Like Beck, Grampall Jookabox is intent on experimenting with sounds. Ropechain is filled with bang and clatter of found sounds. Much like Beck's Mellow Gold, the album also features tape loops, drum machine beats, and lo-fi production values.
There's one final similarity between the two artists: humour. There's no denying Beck has a tremendous one, however it may be rivalled by Grampall Jookabox as he takes the themes of mental health, unwanted pregnancy, and otherworldly visitors, and lends an air of comedy to them.
For an entertaining and unique listening experience you better get on the Grampall Jookabox train now.
