Recorded at The Double Door in Chicago in October, 2007, the live album captures a performance by the superist sucker Eddie Spaghetti and his guitar slinging sideman Jordan Shapiro. It's just the two of them with a pair of guitars and a bucket full of awesome tunes. It's a set that's often opened Supersuckers gigs.
The set list is as strong as ever. Supersuckers classics like "Doublewide", "Pretty Fucked Up", and "Bubblegum & Beer" are mixed with Eddie's solo material including "I Don't Wanna Know" and "Little 'Ol Winedrinker Me".
Like the Supersuckers shows I've been too, audience participation is encouraged. Sometimes it's in a singalong, like on "Killer Weed", and sometimes it's just to flip Eddie off, like on ubiquitous closer "Born With A Tail".
Eddie is in full witty banter mode, trading jibes with the audience, telling jokes, and relating stories. Demonstrating his commitment to the fans, he even undertakes to thank each and every one in attendance individually. And yes the skanky prostitute has to wait because there is a fake encore.
While there are plenty of live Supersuckers recordings available, Live At the Double Door offers something unique to the fans. It's a must have for the band's rabid audience.
Best tracks: "Killer Weed", "Born With A Tail"
