The Piano Creeps is the new project from Billy Cote and Mary Lorson, formerly of the under appreciated 90's indie pop outfit Madder Rose. The new album, Future Blues (For Me And You) is due for release on October 14th.
The record is twelve tracks of compelling, arresting dream pop.
Awash with lush guitar textures and fragile arrangements, Future Blues tends to creep up on you. The sonic atmospheres are at the same time spacey and strangely warm and reassuring.
Lorson's sweet vocals lend a delicate beauty to these simple, understated songs. There's an almost childlike innocence to the music that comes shimmering through on each song.
The harmonic "ooo la las" on "There Goes My Girl" play off the subtle guitar fuzz of a track like "In Somerville".
Those elements combine to make for an album by which one can easily be mesmerized.
Best tracks: "Hey Love", "He Likes The Light"
