Kristoffer Ragnstam: Wrong Side of the Room- Album Review

File this one under: eclectic.

Wrong Side of the Room is the new album from Swedish singer/songwriter/musician Kristoffer Ragnstam.  Imagine you took Jens Lekman, Matthew Sweet, and Beck and mixed them all up in a blender.  The resulting smoothie would be Ragnstam.

The music is a sound collage woven together from elements of pop, rock, folk, and electronic styles.  Add to this Ragnstam's quirky sense of humour and you have a very diverse and enjoyable record.

The songs tend to be lighthearted and bright.  The sometimes goofy programming effects work very well with the cutesy lyrics.

As an aside, I don't think I've heard a greater truism lately than when Ragnstam sings "Nothing bothers me more than an overrated poet with an acoustic guitar and too much to say".  Amen brother.

Best tracks: "Disco Fiasco", "May I Admire Her"
