Jukebox The Ghost: Let Live and Let Ghosts- Album Review

Right off the bat I acknowledge being a couple months behind the times on this review; but I finally got the opportunity to hear all of Let Live and Let Ghosts by Washington/Philadelphia indie band Jukebox The Ghost.

Let Live and Let Ghosts is 12 tracks of bouncy, fun piano-based indie rock that would put much of Ben Folds recent output to shame.  For the most part the tracks are energetic with choruses that almost beg you to sing along.

The quirkiness and humour of the lyrics don't make it a stretch to compare the group not only to Folds (piano of course), but also to one of the true masters of the "funny song": They Might Be Giants.

Even on the most downer of subjects (the end of the world), the fun-loving nature of the band comes through to rub off on the listener.  Really, how many people can make the end of the world sound like something to look forward to with only a few well placed "ba ba bas" ("Where Are All the Scientists Now?").

Add to this songs atmostpheres that lurch back and forth between carnival and vaudeville, and you really do have a winning combination.

For those of you looking for something light and fresh that can put you in a great mood, you will want to get your hands on Let Live and Let Ghosts.

Best tracks: "Hold It In", "A Matter of Time"
